Traits & Relics Guide

In UTDX, a unit's traits and relics matter as much as the unit itself — the right trait can multiply a unit's damage several times over. This page covers the trait ladder, which trait to chase for each role, how to farm rerolls, and how relics and set bonuses work.

Golden rule Pick the unit and its role first, then chase the matching trait. Burning rare rerolls on a unit you won't keep is the most common beginner mistake.

Trait Ladder

Traits are passive bonuses rolled onto units with Trait Rerolls. Rarer traits are far stronger but far less likely to roll:

Sacred Legendary 0.3% +25% Damage, +25% Range, −10% Cooldown, −15% Cost. No placement penalty.
Astral Legendary 0.45% +20% Affliction Duration, +15% Range, −20% Cooldown, enables DoT stacking.
Wizard Legendary 0.5% +30% DoT Damage, +20% Range, −15% Cooldown.
Artificer Epic 0.65% +15% relic stat gain (boosts everything your relics give).
Duelist Epic 0.8% +20% Crit Rate, +20% Range, +35% Boss Damage.
Fortunate Utility Boosts income — a must on farm units like Fastcart and Bulmo.
Prodigy Utility Helps level units cheaply early on.
Double traits & pity A reroll has a small chance to land two traits at once, which is twice as valuable. Both trait slots roll together — you can't lock one and reroll only the other. The Traits menu also shows a pity counter for how many rolls guarantee a higher tier.

Rerolls are the bottleneck for good traits. Stack them from every source before committing:

Relics & Set Bonuses

Relics are equippable gear that boost a unit's stats, with set bonuses for running matching pieces. Match the relic's stats to the unit's actual job.
